Those who use them, how long does it take to get it 'sorted' so to speak.
Need something insured by friday, could I ring them tomorow and get it sorted do we think?

Thanks

If you ring them tomorrow then it should be sorted tomorrow

yep, no problems. I have insured my horses and cars with them for the last 4 or 5 years and have always found them very helpful. You will be able to get cover tomorrow if you need to, but as with most insurance companies a 14 day exclusion will probably apply for illness.

I tried to get a quote today but they wouldn't give me one without me faxing over the vetting certificate... They seem very thorough and hopefully I'll be insured with them soon.

How much are you insuring horse for? I know some companies want a vetting cert over 5k etc.. im only insuring for 3k?

NFU have recently changed all their wording etc for new policies.

So vetting is required now.

You will need to pay a deposit of 1 month though if you are accepted.

watch out though when you want to claim! They are now dragging their feet! 5 months on and still no money!

i cant rate them enough- they were superb when had vets fees etc and brillaint when ted died. they even wrote to me to say how sorry they were and to remind me that i needed to claim money off then after i had him taken away xx

God thats bad. Im with them too and have claimed lots in the past without a problem. Im sure someone on here said they have 'staffing issues' at the moment.
If I remember right you couldnt claim for illness in the first 14 days although you are fine for accident.

The last time that I took out a policy with NFU, I phoned then up when we stopped for fuel on the way to collect her. The policy was sorted there and then, so that by the time we had her in the box, she was covered to come home. I did get the vet who had done the vetting the day before to fax through the vet cert though

You shouldnt have to pay for the first 14 days as should have this time to cancell or make changes, if insuirng under 5k without lou then shouldnt need a vetting, insurance companies will ask to see if you have had on done though.. best to call and ask all the questions you need to know, If the pony is on loan then they may need to see a copy of loan agreemant or at least full name and address of the owner

Never had a problem with NFU - their service is great, friendly and fast. I've made 2 claims in the past and going through a 3rd now. The even refunded me some money when I paid for part of a bill I didn't need to. They've chased me twice for the claim form that that vet hasn't sent back to them and they won't pay the bills I've sent until they receive it, but as it's the vets problem, and not mine, I'm not worried.

Insured my new pony straightaway over the phone though already have old pony insured with them.

And though pony was vetted they didn't want a copy though he insured for less than £3.5K - guessing they will want a copy if I ever make a claim..

Had my loan pony insured with them last year, I just had to give owners name and address and passport number - they said they didn't need a vetting as I wasn't buying it but did check pony wasn't insured elsewhere first.

I insured with them 3 mnths ago, offered them my full 5stage vetting and they didnt want it!! And she is insured as a competition horse?!! Otherwise they were very efficient
