Sorry but I know nothing about this area and was wanting a few questions answered - Does anyone know the answers to the following:-

Am I correct in thinking that if you do a number of courses you get a qualification (MRPCH)?
If you have the qualification what does it mean you can do/work as/ advertise as?
Do they "vet" their recommended Associates or is it just you complete the additional work and then become a recommended associate?
Do they call for a certain standard of conduct from their recommended Associates?

The MRPCH is completed after doing so many courses. This give the holder no right (as I understand) to say the are qualified to teach IH methods. The only people that are are RAs. These people have passed other qualifications and are thoroughly assessed by Kelly at all stages and only when fully competant are given RA status. Even so once they reach RA status they are reguarly checked and every client is given a questionaire to fill in, and any RA that has any degree of negative feedback is fully investigated.

I have had several different RAs out to work with horses and each and every one of them are 100% brilliant with full email and phone support if needed at anytime.

Kelly herself is more than approachable, so any questions please ask her direct however silly it may seem, she is always there to help.

If you hold the MRPCH, its not as easy as just urning up to a few courses, pretending to listen, and hey presto, MRPCH!! They will have completed the following courses, and a horse psychology project overseen by a person with a PhD in equine science. You also have to complete 10 case studies, of which 2 have to be filmed, and if that meets the required standard (remember, filmed join-ups can't be faked - you either get it right or you don't and the RAs who assess the video footage give extensive feedback on this!) then you will be invited back for the 2nd 5 day course whereby your work with horses is assessed, and knowledge and understanding of course content from the previous courses eg Stud Practice, Horse as an Athlete is tesed and examined -

Basically, its very stringently vetted - it takes 1-3 years or more of case studies and working with horses before you are invited to become an RA AFTER gaining your MRPCH, which isn't easy to achieve in the first place - the fact that there are so few RAs compared with the number of people who hold the MRPCH should give you an idea! I know of a brilliant RA who took a while to become an RA, not because of her work with horses, but that she needed more practice at coping with the owners as she started out quite shy with people! After all, its not so much the problem horses as the horses with people problems...
It is Kelly and Monty's reputation, along with IH overall, which is at stake when endorsing someone as capable and qualified to work with your horse, hence "RECOMMENDED Associate" is well, recommended!
 
Good answer Crockshard. I've done all the courses (and brilliant they were too!) but there's no way on earth I would call myself an MRPCH. I'm good friends with one of the RA's, and I know how much work and dedication it took for her to get that title. And yes, it's about people skills just as much as equine skills. In fact on the 5 day course it's amazing how much you learn about how you relate to other people...body language etc...
