Is anyone here a member?

I just wondered, I was browsing their website this weekend and I wondered what their forum was like?

Honestly?

It is your usual horse forum basically, I know that some are members here too. Lots of very knowledgable, experienced people on there, useful advice, helpful in a dilemma, just ordinary, everyday people who believe in doing things their own way, fine, dig out, each to their own, but do NOT mention sticks, spurs, gadgets or slapping a nose because your horse chomped on you because some seem to come quite unglued and once the bitch pack gets the scent they will rip you apart.

I used to be a member and really quite enjoyed it until (perhaps a troll, it matters not) a new member came on and said something about using a stick and she was treated to an appalling attack by some people that I had previously quite liked in a cyber sort of way. You may think that HHO can be bad at times, but it is kindergarten stuff compared to the sheer viciousness and abuse I read then.

I left, just disappeared, I should, in retrospect, have told them exactly what I thought of the situation, but to be honest I couldn't be bothered.

You don't have to be a paid-up member to join the forum... I'm a member on there (I do get about a bit!) and dip in once a day or so to see what the latest threads say. They're OK though... bit clique with the regular high-posters but that's what you get when you commit to one particular board, people make friends so it shouldn't be a criticism.....

I'm a member of the board, but don't post much these days. Enfys is pretty much spot on, but I don't remember the attack she mentions (I only have a look once or twice a week, now).

There is an awful lot of very good advice and experience from people who do lots of showing, breeding, dressage, endurance and even hunting. Although not so many do eventing or show jumping, a few do. I think the "ripped apart because you mentioned stick" doesn't happen now. You will always get advice to look at a problem from the horse's point of view, which is after all, the title of the Discussion Group.

I agree with you orangehorse. I think the Intelligent Horsemanship site is very informative and my own personal view is it is a much kinder forum in respect of emotive issues, than the H&H forum.
