Intense SJ training Southwest

Jessica Mendoza is trained by Andy Austin, she credited him with her training at the BSJA awards anyway.

Ah maybe she's stepping back from him then.

AB is very well respected anyway so good choice.

According to Jessica's website Amanda trains her in dressage.

She (Amanda) calls all her lessons dressage lesson because that's how they all start off on the flat but they end with either jumping or pole work. She teaches sjers, eventers, dressage riders but using the same basic overriding principle that good ground work will improve the horse and therefore help it achieve it's athletic ability. Lots of Jess's lessons are working on the canter as she has a very feisty mare who likes to buck so sorting that out improves the canter which in turn improves the jump.

I know the inside gen on this because as well as being my instructor she is also a good friend and I built her new website for her so I know the background on all her clients etc :)

Hi - I'm near Bristol. Amanda Brewer looks good although maybe a bit too much dressage! Also don't know where she is based (its not on her website!)
Thank you for the suggestion

What about Nick Gauntlett? He is a pretty sharp Sjer and has competed on a pure sjer in 1.40 + classes even though he is an eventer and BHSI. I found him very frank and helpful. He is based near Badminton.

There are virtually no SJ trainers in Bristol it's pretty desperate. Alan Jobbins is fantastic, and his son Simon teaches a lot and is fairly accessible. Don't think there'd be any chance of residential, but that's supposition.

Why don't you go to the Broomes, they run residential courses.
