I took the Appy out this morning (as I am working from home this am

This is the first outing since the new mare arrived, as the Appy got herself kicked and went lame, all her own fault. We were only out about 40 minutes and at least five of those were spent standing while the nappy creature got it through her brain that we were not a) going back home to her new friend, who was calling for her. b)going to play with the boys, who live next door and she has been tarting at for nearly a fortnight. c) I was not putting up with walking backwards!

We went past a penumatic road squasher thing in a yard, no problem, then met a road cleaner waggon, who was very kind and stopped the machinery, she stalked past that as if it didn't exist, much more interested in the horse eating wheelie bin at the other side of the road. She ignored the rattly van which came past us at wharp speed, no problem. Going back down the road to home I spotted a cement mixer backing into a yard. We were already moving at a faster speed than I was asking for (on way home to new friend!) I decided that discretion is the better part of valour and unshipped to lead her home. She ignored the cement mixer, which was unloading

but had a tant at the youngsters who were running about. When all were past I climbed back on and home we came. Then the poor soul was very disppointed as the other two mares ignored her!

A lot can happen in half an hour

Absolutely, I thought I had timed it well to avoid the school run mums etc. Had not taken into account that she can be as daft as a brush about other horses when she is that side out.
