went for a hack today, quite windy but lovley sunshine, mare threw her toys completley out of her pram just because i asked her to go left instead of right out of yard!! she walked a couple of paces spun round and tried to f-off back to the yard, so turned her rode with loads of leg she did the same, she is a quick, sharp mare and can spin on a sixpence, gave her another try and she mini reared and spun, so....... i jumped off and walloped her behind with my stick and frog marched her up the road!! every time she tried to stop i flicked her up with the stick, once down the road i got on and rode the rest of the way with her really striding out, and apart from a few spooks which i didn't worry about as it was so windy, she was really very good,
the reason i got off was i feel i have more control on the ground and i am much more happy to deal with something sodding about when i'm on the floor rather than on top - i have run up welsh cobs in my time so don't take alot of notice of something leaping around me!! however some people say you should never get off, when i got back i made her walk past the yard and up to the top of the road and she was fine about it, also had a tractor come past and apart from a little jump and trot she was alot better than usual, so a couple of good points after her strop!!
BTW teeth saddle etc fine!! probably PMT ruddy mares!
