I have just found out that for my work experience I am working with a photographer, and he wants to see a portfolio.
I currently don't have much of a portfolio, but shall start building one and want to take some pictures of my horse for it.
However just normal pics would be a bit dull, so I need some inspiration as to some interesting lighting, background etc to use. If anyone knows of any equine photographers that do interestng or unsusual horse shots, could they give me a website to look at?
Or anyone have any ideas of how to make a horsey shot a bit different? I am fairly new at photograhy!

Bob Langrish seems to do everything for every magaizine there ever was and some of them are pretty special but i also have a book I bought at olyimpa one year by Yann Arthus-bertrand full of photos which are spectacular. Its a massive book but i doint think it was cheap....

Go for action shots rather than just boring portrait shots. Try photographing people going about their day!! For example Farrier shoeing, Vet examining, Mucking out, etc etc. Also go for some real close up shots of some bazaar things you might find on the yard. I don't know an abstract shot of a brush or something!!! Use your imagination and the world is your oyster. Good Luck!!

I agree with katie this is the best photo I have (and I have alot) of one of our horses and he's not really in it! His name was murphy and he was being vetted to be sold!

Black and white...I have some of my horse in black and white and they are great. Plus if you catch things early morning they can look wonderful. A lot of the time its a case of catching the moment...so take the camera round all the time and just snap at anything...its surprising what can look good...or weird!!!
Also with my phone I can take negative and sepia photos which are totally different, dont know whether a camera would be able too tho.
Btw I loved looking at the link above to the photographer guy...lovely piccies.
