Im 22yrs old & want to show my pony in 146-153cm Intermediate Show Riding Type classes but am not totally sure of the type that the judges are looking for. Also I have watched these classes @ county shows & have noticed that they are all solid colours (mostly bays & chestnuts) however my mare is a coloured, so wud she be accepted in this class.

Over here, with the IPS, Inter show riding type are usually considered half way between a small hunter and a hack. I suppose the 148-158 equivalent of the show pony rather than show hunter, although saying that most people seem to do both classes with the same animal, just stick on a navy jacket and coloured browband!!
Anyway a true show riding type should have less substance/bone than a show hunter and be a bit more extravagant in their movement. Manners and way of going are also very important. I wouldn't worry too much about your horse being a coloured, if she's the correct type and has good conformation and movement then it shouldn't be held against her. There are probably others on here who can give you more info, I'm only going by the IPS and there are'nt many inter show riding types over here. I did Inter show hunter with my boy.

basically it's a class for hacks and small riding horses with riders under 25. Judged like a show pony class - extention instead of gallop and personal show instead of judge ride.

Coloured's are not banned or anything, though you may occasionally come across the odd 'traditional' judge who won't like it. That is the way of showing though!
