I have left a message with my vet to phone me back but while I wait was just wondering you guys can shed any light on my mare.
She sustained a kick to her hock in Oct and since she has been in at night the leg she was kicked in swells up at night. Thought it was due to the damage so never worried about it. Got the vet out in Dec for a repeat set of bloods (to keep a eye on her liver) and mentioned it to him. He agreed with me it was to do with the kick and see how she went.
Took her out the field a few nights ago and thought when she was turning round she just didnt look right but as we walked back to the stables she looked fine. So thought it was me. Yesterday she did the same again on the turn (just didnt look right) then took a few short strides on the leg she was kicked on and then was fine. Went to the hose and again looked sore and few short strides and then was fine. Again she was the same today but I felt her leg was perhaps a little warmer than normal. And the swelling is still there in the mornings but goes down when she out.

I just wondered if it could be connected to the kick or could it be her back that playing up. She has been out of work for a couple months (due to weather and also cause I hurt my pelvis). So not in ridden work at the moment.
What would you do if she was yours. I am waiting for the vet to phone me back so will take vet advice on the matter too.

There will be something going on in the hock if it is still swelling up, I would want xrays and a scan done to see what is going on.
