Our mare has had 2 big bucking episodes when being led in hand/ tied up (never ridden) since September, roughly 23 days apart. But it happened a 3rd time only 10 days after 2nd episode. It lasts for a 5-10 minutes and then she's more settled. Lots of tail swishing and looking round at her back end and cow kicking. Then she's fine chomping on hr haylage.

She's on box rest, no turn out but can be hacked (walked only). She's within her rights to be grumpy but she's such a sweet, affectionate mare the rest of the time.

We are scanning her ovaries but having come across a topic about crab flies, I read they can nest in a mares teats and send them bonkers. I will check her tomorrow but I would have thought she'd be agitated by some sort of infestation the whole time with bucking & tail swishing and not just every now and again.

Any thoughts on why this is happening ? Experience of ovary pain/ cysts ? I hate seeing her in distress as she truly is a lovely pony.
