Following on from my post yesterday, where Rosie is going internittently lame on her right hind, vet thinks the splint is causing the trouble though no heat or anything, she is to have a month of work now, if no better then they will do more investigative work

The splint could be fractured or impinging on a ligament - this causes intermittent lameness and does not necessarily present with heat or even additional swelling. If the horse is still lame after rest, have it x-rayed and/or scanned. My horse had surgery last month to remove a fractured splint bone and associated bone chips (front leg). He was intermittently lame (hardly visible even when lame) and no heat or swelling at all. He's fully sound now but still resting while the residual swelling goes down.

I hope you get to the bottom of it!
