Internal bruising takes a good while to go doesn't it?

I got a bit squished between my cob (420kg) and the gate when my mare started to kick him. Stupid place to stand and my stupid fault, it's now been just over 2 weeks and my ribs on that side are still really painful, I'm struggling to so things like change gear when driving. No bruising showing. I'm pretty sure if it was any more serious than bruising I'd know about it (I can still breath after all) How long does it take to heal? When he stood on my foot it was 6 weeks before it was back to normal?

It does take a while to go but equally it is possible to crack a rib and continue with normal life (including breathing!) and feel like you do.

Might be worth getting it checked out (usually treatment is minimal for broken ribs but still, you might want to take extra care with some things). Suggest calling your local A&E and asking when their quiet times are.

Oh, and ouch!

Sorry to hear you've been squashed. I agree that it takes time to mend but it's always worth getting things checked out if you're worried. Get well soon! :)

Agree with Tickles, you might have cracked more than one rib. My husband cracked a rib due to a pressure injury and he was in pain for more than 8 weeks. You should get it checked if you are worried, but in the meantime, don't do any heavy lifting. The doc prescribed ibuprofen but they don't strap them up any more. Hope you heal quickly :)

You dont need to go to A and E; this is why they are overrun! If you are worried, then the GP is the appropriate place to go. However, even if cracked, so long as you haven't punctured a lung, then ribs will heal on their own. Rest and analgesia is what you need, but if you're anything like me, then you'll struggle with the rest bit!

Thanks everyone, I didn't think they did anything about it (that's why I didnt go with my foot last time, I used vet wrap ...) I think it gets worse depending on which bra I have on lol! I could have cried when driving today but was ok going on a hack this eve! I'll start taking some ibroprufen again and thank fully they're out so no mucking out or lifting needed. Weird how I have no bruising on my skin.
I havent registered with my local GP yet (moved a year ago!) maybe I'll go take the forms, they usually ask you to go for a check with the practise nurse when u register I could mention it to her if it doesn't improve
