ADVICE NEEDED!!
Hi there. I am new to this forum, so am sorry if I get things a bit worng. I am liiking for advice on the internal dimensions of horse boxes. I am looking to purchase a second hand horse box. At the moment I have one 15'3 mare, who is a little chunky! I am looking to buy another 16-16'1. I was wondering if anyone knows what internal dimensions I should be looking for, to give them enough room?!
Any adivce greatly appreicated. Thanks.

7ft is the minimum headroom for 17hh (not by law, or anything, just on practical terms) this is the height of my horsebox and my 17hh has enough room, although if he decided to fling his head up really high he'd probably get a sore head, which would teach him not to do it again. If you're tall then it's easy to work out, I'm 6ft and if I reach up and can just touch the roof then its ok.

I think 7'6 is actually minimum headroom and most lorry bodies are 7'6 wide. For big horses, 8ft wide is preferable and most builders allow 3ft per horse stall. My lorry is stalled for three and has 9ft living.

i used to have a small horse ransport business...

had the lorry checked as its mandatory for business operators...funnily enough, private owners can shove horses/ponies in anything they like...the minimum height was 7'3

step up from ramp was to be less than 200mm and angle of ramp was less than 45%
