Ok so I confess that this is still one of my absolute favourite films of all time - for sentimental, childhood wonderful reasons. I really was going to grow up to own my own Arizona Pie (and just so happen to win the Olympics with it). So, does Anyone know where I can get this monumentous film on DVD (VHS no good)? By the way if youre reading this & havent seen it, you're missing out. Nevermind the inconsistancies, inaccuracies, and the fact that if Arizona Pie had been the Pie's foal (National Velvet made in the 20s) that would make the foal about 50, but hey, we love it all the same. A real classic. Help..

I got it from ebay

It is one of my favs too, i love that film! Im sorry i dont know where you can get it on DVD. I was very dissapointed when i opened this, i thought you were going to say that it is on TV!

don't know where you can get it from I'm afraid but I must admit I know most if it off by heart and I still cry at the end on the beach.....................

I love the music too, it used to bring tears to my eyes!

I had it as my ring tone for ages (I managed not to cry when anyone called me!) and my friends thought it was awful!

I love it too!

Did anyone else notice that The Pie wasn't a piebald?

I know! How awful is that, it ruins the whole thing! (well sort of, i still love it!)

Whilst searching on the net for the DVD it has brought back so many memories - will be ordering it this afternoon.

Funny facts found today -
International Velvet shares none of the stars with the original film.
The Director Bryan Forbes cast his wife Nanette Newman in the role of Velvet Brown, over Elizabeth Taylor, who played her in the original film.
Somehow The Pie, who was a chestnut gelding with white socks and a big blaze in the original film, becomes a dark bay stallion with no white at all in the sequel.

Love the film! I have got it on an old vhs, have seen it on both Ebay and Amazon, far better than National Velvet IMO, was quite dissapointed when i watched it, but then again the films are VERY old.

Try amazon. I find them much better than ebay for books and dvds.

I absolutely love that film. I'm always on the edge of my seat when Sarah gets chased by that car.

I have two copies of black beauty, one the original, and another more updated one.
I would love the old tv series on video, and also Follyfoot.

We have all the If Wishes Were Horses vids, and the chatterhappy ponies, oh, and the Stables. On constant in our house.

Not to mention the fact that he was a gelding too . . . . in the original film (c1400!!) he was a CHESTNUT gelding but miraculously became a bay stallion in "International Velvet" but, hey, who cares!!! Love the film . . . ". . . . it's the foal, it's the foal . . . . "

You are! You are one seriously deprived person, i feel so sorry for you! You MUST see it soon.

Not to be nitpicky but National Velvet was made in 1944

You're quite right about the inaccuracies/inconsistencies though!!

HOWEVER, back to your question; I got my copy of Int Velvet on Ebay, BUT it's a copy someone made off their TV I think... Still, it works fine.

So did I! esp when he had to gallop up the sand dunes and the guy was hitting him :-( I went to the Melbourne muesum just to check out his stuffed body on display!
