A friend of my mums has split up with her husband and is having to move into a rented house, she can't take her dog with her and has asked if we would take her on. She is a little yorkie very sweet but my ony concern is I already have 2 dogs and one bitch, I know the dogs will be fine but not sure about the bitch, I think she would be fine if she got to know her away from home first. Do you think it would be unfair to them to introduce another dog?

Any advice please would be great, i'd really like to help her out as she is devastated.

I have introduced a new bitch to my existing lot - a rescue greyhound - and I found no problems at all TBH . The new one instantly respected my older greyhound as the matriach, and they never had a cross word.

Perhaps I was just lucky though!

Try then out on a long walk 1st, then bring them all back home together. That way them meet on neutral territory and return home as a tired (hopefully) pack.

Yes that was my thought. I thought it might be best to just take them for walks together for a week or so before she 'moves in' i'm so excited, I hope it all works out!

I have always done it this way as well, it has been very successful, I have had a number af bitches living together with no problems.

I also do this if friends come to visit with their dogs/bitches so far all have got on well with no problems.

Should have added we have 3 x bitches and 1 x dog. No problems with them, even when I have had a friends bitch to stay. Poor Oz can't decide if he likes being surrounded by ladies or not!!!
