hi,

Is anyone else going?

Im taking my other half, its his first time, and basicly im bricking it! im sooo scared hes going to fall! he came off at his last XC and i really dont want him to come off again.
Do you think he will be better off going in to non jumping group at first? teh horse hes taking is great but known to chuck in the odd huge buck when we first set off!

and im taking my ermmm.... "excitable" horsey 9see as hes steaing my usual hunter) so i might be joining him on the floor too! lol

don't worry too much about it - these guys seem to bounce better than us girlies! my OH started learning to ride in jan, and had 2 days hunting on hirelings end of last season, and then 6hours (!!) two weeks ago (again on a hireling) before taking my lad out the following week having only hacked him out before.
they had a good day and all came back safe and sound, if a little muddy!

I think I’m going, I’m not too impressed by all these intro days but it’s local and will keep my boy fit!!

Don’t worry, they will have loads of different field masters to suit everyone. I wouldn’t have thought the jumping field master will be doing anything big – with it being an intro day, but then they will probably have an in between type one and then a totally non jumping one.

Hope you and your OH have fun!! Come and say Hi!

At the last intro they had from the kennels they had a jumping master and a non-jumping master, the people who went with the jumping lot could choose between the front (fast & furious) or middle of the field (much more sensible!). You could change between them as you wanted and miss out any fences you didn't feel happy with. Take plenty of sloe gin in your hipflask & u'll be fine! :smirk:

I'm meant to be a group leader I think depending on how many they get out, we have loads of fieldmasters out who are very willing to help, there isn't anything too challenging so I'm sure he will be ok. Did we do an introduction day at kennels???

I don't know. I'm sure its a great way of encouraging new people but I don't see why they can't hunt saturday too, hounds don't work properly on intro days, and some members have paid full subs this time, it takes the piss a little bit, another week without saturday hunting. My horse had resorted to winter sj ffs.

i think maybe one or two days a year is good idea, mainly cos if there are a few novices out then they wont get in the way of the regulars. Our plan was to come out in Autum but with all the foot and mouth problems etc, made this impossible for us.

i was going to subscribe this year, glad i didnt mainly cos when im free to hunt, there not hunting!!!! so would have been a waste of money for me

We did one over half term, on a Thursday after cubbing I think, so it didn't interfere with normal hunting. I was really wanting to take our lot too it but I didn't find out about it until the day before... :( hopefully they will do one over xmas, I do think they are a very good idea, but not on a normal hunting day!! :)

think im possibly goin not sure yet tho as rosie sed dont know why they have to miss a proper days hunting for a intro day but hey ho think its from finkle street so will propb go round xc course so there will be a variety of size and type of jump on there and then there is always plenty of ppl willing to help so im sure you will be fine.

It's annoying but I guess we'll have to put up with it. :(

Is anyone coming to the Auction afterwards???? It's in Wortley club on Sunday night! It is usually good fun even if you don't buy any crap!

Good stuff, I've ordered a drawing from PF of that pic you took of Badge and Caff later on in the day!! Thank you!! It's a great pic!

I'd refuse to go too but it's just down the road and won't cost me anything - so better exercise than a hack!
