Well i picked up my rescue mal from RSPCA on Saturday and thought I would post some pics, he is learning manners on the lead really quickly, not sure what I think about how he is taking to recall training yet as he doesnt really wander far enough on the long line or run to test it but its early days, no big arguments with the current girl so far either, so just really pleased with him and wanted to share.

Sorry if pics are big I dont know how to change them

What a beauty ! I don't know anything about Mals but they look a very happy pair, he's obviously made himself quite at home :-). Well done for taking him on I look forward to hearing further news.

Cyrus I think conformation wise he might be likely to end up with some issues later in life, his back is very long and already dips a bit but as he is still very narrow across the chest i am hoping that as he fills out this doesnt seem so bad but wondered would pulling be bad for him ( when fit obvioisly) or would it add to strengthening for him.I

Bloody phone! I obviously didnt get him for any reason than to give him a happy home so his conformation doesnt bother me but would be good to know what he can do without increasing the chances of issues later on.

Guess so cyrus, sorry lady I reassigned pics on photo bucket after posting and it must have changed the link will repost now...

It drops in the middle a bit then is flat again to his tail almost like its 2 halfs. He was obviously stressed on his first day and looked skinnier and it seemed more pronounced then, now he is more relaxed he looks like he has put on weight already and it doesn't look so bad but if he was a horse I definitely wouldn't buy him.

That would be great thanks cyrus, think the OH could go for exercising him with a bike especially after he got pulled off his feet at the end of the long line this morning lol

Thanks mj, he is being on best behaviour at the moment, walks to heal without pulling, waits for his dinner, have managed to get them both chilled enough that I can leave their food out and they just help themselves when they want, doesn't go far on a long line and stops and comes 90% of the time. OH has fallen for it hook line and sinker and thinks he is a great dog who is never going to be a problem and is all for just letting him loose in the woods safe in the knowledge he wont go far and will be easy to catch. I have told him it will all change on a few weekswhen Ash feels more coconfident in his new home!
