He's an 8 month old Lab X Staff type from a rescue centre- very clever, knows lots of tricks like twist, beg, paw, back, roly poly etc. Am hopefully going to do some agility with him- what age do you think he can start? Here are some pics:

He favours the lab side doesn't he. :) I would not start serious agility training until he is at least 12 months, you could do tunnels, carefully supervised dog walk etc but no jumping until he has finished growing. I look forward to the updates on his progress.

He is just gorgeous!!

The dog club I went to do puppy classes where they put the dog walk flat on the ground, use the tunnels and poles on the ground to get them used to the textures etc. once they're 12 months old they're allowed onto some of the giant breed kit which is really wide, but also low to the ground. Maybe see if you can find somewhere like that?

Whatever happens we NEED more photos of him!! :D

Thanks, I don't have any agility clubs near me, was more thinking about buying some kit or making my own as it's usually very expensive and doing it in the garden. I'll put some baby pictures up now!

He is indeed a handsome chap, nice to see pups taken on a rescue basis, esp given his x and yet look at him he is grogeous:)
We have had a staff x lab handed in last week for rescue (lovely dog) too:)

Thank you! Ooh very nice, do you have any pictures? I don't think his Staff X is complete staff.

Aww! he's gorgeous! Lovely colour :) I have always heard 12 months for small dogs and 18 months for large breeds before starting agility, but my club does a puppy class, which is mixed obedience, socialising and training things like contacts on very low equipment, and the start of weaves, and teaching them directions. I waited until my JRT was 12 months, but wish I'd started the basics sooner- maybe she wouldn't have such a see-saw phobia!

Did he come in to the rescue that age or was he born there?

Came in that age with his litter mates- his 'breeders' (if you could call them that) wanted to breed some puppies and then sell them to make some extra cash- turns out they couldn't and took them to the rescue centre.

Madness! Bet if they'd come up with some fancy 'breed' name for them they'd have sold them! :)

Were they all that colour? He looks lovely.
