Well, its been a whole 4 weeks (nearly) since I sold Merlin... and been on the constant horse hunt since then!

Found what I hope to be a very nice little (!) horse to event and generally do everything with :)! Also said i didn’t want a grey or a coloured really – and guess what I ended up buying :o

This is Billy (named because born on the 12th July...!) who is a 4 year old coloured (duh) gelding by Glenhill Gold.
He has done a bit of everything, and I really like him – I think we just click!
I have a pic of him stood up, but the darn computer wont let me upload it!

Oh yes, and he is 17hh (we think – too scared to measure him ) but he does take a 6’6 rug ;) and I am 5f7 on a good day...

He is a gentle giant, and keen as anything to jump, which is always half the battle :D

What do you think of him?

HOw did i miss you selling MErlin?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!

New boy looks lovely - i love a coloured although you will curse those white legs on many a morning i promise you!!!

Looking forward to hearing about how you get on with him :) :) :)

thanks everyone :)

Yep AR and MillbrookSong, sold him 3 weeks ago to a lovely home (and am building up the courage to ring about him! no news is good news i hope!) as I felt ready for a new challenge and sort of "outgrew" him as it were :)

Photos not great, will try to get somemore, but he is staying at his yard (10mins from my house) for a while as YO is away and I am at uni for half weeks :)

Am going to have to buy a bib martingale -he chews everything including his martingale!

What a lovely chap! I like a nicely marked coloured, not too much white :D

If it makes you feel any better, my 17.1hh takes a 7' rug!! Lol....

Wow I am so excited to hear that he is by Glenhill Gold. GG is a super horse! I put my Novice event mare to him in 2008 and have a fantastic (coloured) yearling. So really interesting to see pics of your 4yo. If you are on facebook GG has his own page and Declan Cullan (rider and owner) loves hearing feedback on GG's progeny and seeing pics (there is a folder for offspring). Would love to hear how you get on with him through the winter. What's his name?

Also interesting to hear his size! Harry (my yearling) has been big from day one and everyone who sees him says "oh- he's going to be big"- which wasn't quite what I expected.

Keep us posted....

And have fun!

Lovely boy :) very nice! hope you have lots of fun with him :)

If it makes you feel better my boy is 17.1hh, chunkier than yours, 6ft9-7ft rug and I am the same height as you hehe

ooooh i like very much :D agree with AR though- you are going to be cursing those white legs  just think about 17 hands as a four year old....he's going to be mahoosive! :D

lol!

I hope he wont grow up anymore - he is quite well developed for a 4 year old i think, and quite level over the back, but anything can happen!
He has to fill out still, but in his frame I think that may take a few years!!

Our plan for next year is to basically go out and do PN, and take our time doing it properly, as I will be out of YR before we are ready anyways!

White legs just need bandaged at night ;) (and covered with clingfilm...!) :D
