I need some tips please about introducing new horses to the field....

Here is the scenario;
OK...I have a mare and a gelding who have been together for 10 years and are inseperable. Gelding is lovely and kind and has is shoes off anyway; mare is sweet but typically 'marey', likes to buck and kick and has her shoes on.

In 3 weeks i'm getting a new mare (who will arrive with no shoes on). i'm anxious about getting the introduction right, i've no experience of doing this.

Should I remove my mare's back shoes? I'll still be riding her so i'd rather not but I 'm worried about the new mare being injured if she kicks her.

Should I put new mare in a small section of the field fenced off with electric tape or should I just chuck them all in the main field to run and (hopefully) make friends together?

Any advice gratefully received, I had a friend with an 'Alpha mare' and I can recall the hell she went through!

If i were you i would put the new mare in a section of the field on her own as its gonna be wet and muddy still in 3 weeks and you arnt gonna want them charging around in it incase they injure themselfs

I agree with Ladylisa.
When I bought my mare I just turned her straight out with the other mares. They all galloped round for about half an hour. But that was when the weather was still good.
I suggest putting her in a smaller section, where they can start getting to know each other.
Then in a week or so turn them out together.
I would say put one of the horses in with her so she has a friend when she moves field, but if there are only two and they are inseperable that may not be possible.
