Well not mine yet as she's on a 30 day LWVTB.

This is Poppie she's an 11yr old 14.2 Dales mare. She arrived last Monday and seems to be settling in well, she's on a LWVTB to make sure she's right for me and I'm right for her before we go ahead and buy her, owner's idea as well as ideal for me.

We've been out for a couple of hacks, mainly walking with 2 trots so far and apart from thinking the lorries that come down our road are scary monsters that are going to eat her she's been fab. She was a lot better with them today but we still had to stop and have a look and snort.

She seems ideal I will be mainly hacking perhaps the odd bit of jumping in time.

I need to get a really good mane and tail detangler so any suggestions on decent ones much appreciated. :)

Sorry for the pic size don't know how to make them smaller.

She's gorgeous - love the dapples. For the mane try Canter mane + tail spray or cowboy magic stuff in a tube. Our tack shop has the Lynn Russell one with 50% extra free at the mo, which is a good buy. My daughter loves the smell of the LR one but I'm not too keen!

Try putting a little bit of pig oil or baby oil in the mane and tail after it's been washed as this seems to keep it clean looking for a little longer. Happy hacking:D

Thanks guys I don't think our local tack shop has Lyn Russell but I'm pretty sure I saw Canter mane and tail in there so I'll try that, definately need something I spent 1.5 hours getting a knot out of her mane when she arrived. :D

I think she's absolutely gorgeous, no wonder you chose her.

As for the mane and tail conditioner, I stopped using horsy stuff a while back. Now buy leave in spray conditioner that you'd buy for yourself. I get it when on offer in supermarkets, the buy one get one free offers.
Works lovely, better than the stuff for horses I've found x

What a pretty pony! :)

With a mane/tail like that, it's worth getting one of those big Roma tail brushes that look like an oddly-shaped wire hairbrush. They work very very well, and as someone with a pony with a mega-tail that likes turning to dreadlocks, I know whereof I speak!

Thanks spookypony I might have to try one of those. I've not tackled her tail yet as she's been a bit funny about being tied up, she keeps pulling back and I've not fancied been trampled on.

She did stand tied tonight while I groomed her but was getting a bit antsy before I got to her tail, think I'll start with that tomorrow then do the rest of her later.
