I have lurked here and learned a lot from all of you and decided to be brave and introduce my dog, Noodles. He is a 7 year old retired greyhound.
He is very handsome and photogenic...
Well, most of the time:
He also folds up small for storage!
I also have a question, I am sorry if it turns out long. A lot of dogs don't like him, but a couple of times recently we have had the opposite problem and today it was a bit dramatic. I saw some people walking their dogs who I know so put Noodles on the lead and went over to say hello,
One of the dogs is a young rottweiler who we have met a few times and is a lovely soft dog. He started sniffing Noodles, then licking him, then started trying to mount him. It was really difficult to get him to leave him alone. Noodles started to get annoyed at this, he is a really passive dog usually but even he could not put up with it, so I let him off the lead and he ran (greyhound speed!) about 300 meters to the gate where he waited for me, but he was followed by the other dog.
When I caught up, the other dog was obsessively trying to mount him, and Noodles was growling, air snapping, and showing that he did not want this to happen. Eventually the other owners arrived (both are disabled and walk slowly) and in the end I had to tie the other dog (who was not at all aggressive, just desperate to mate with Noodles!) to the railings while I took Noodles home as his owners could not hold him without being pulled over, I could still hear the other dog barking for 2 or 3 minutes while we walked away.
Does anyone know what could have caused this? They have met without incident before and there was no sign of aggression from the rottweiler, it was almost like he thought that Noodles was a female on heat (he is a neutered male). Someone suggested dominance, but would a dominant dog lick the other one?
Thank you for reading my long post, I hope you like Noodles
