The horsebox I am about to buy has a battery in the living area that powers the pump on the sink but otherwise no power supply. I've been told if I wanted to run ...say ... a small coolbox off the battery I would need something called an inverter to change the power to the correct voltage. From the pictures I've seen of inverters online it looks like they just attach to the battery by crocodile clips - is this right??? ie would it be a simple enough job for me to put the inverter on and therefore have a few more options in the living area???
Thanks to anyone who knows - I'm a bit clueless in this area.

Yes, it really is that easy, you then simply plug in your appliance. You will need to ensure the appliance does not require more power then the inverter can supply, and the battery may need frequent re-charging, depending on it's usage of course.

Thats great - thats all I wanted to know - I will just buy one and fit it myself then (the vendor was saying he would fit one but made it sound like it was a big job - presumably in order to bump the price up a bit!) It looks like the higher priced inverters are capable of supplying more power so its probably better to spend a bit more on a better one. I suppose ultimately it would be better to get a generator but all my £££s are being spent on the wagon at the moment and having only ever had a trailer I'm not sure what I will want of the living area just yet. I am possibly going on a longish trip to Warwickshire in the near future (lesson with Robert Smith

) so may end up staying in the box overnight.... hopefully the weather will be better by then or I will proabably get hypothermia LOL. I expect a heater would flatten the battery in an instant!
