Am just getting back into eventing after my pins being removed from my leg. Am keen to do some BE80s and there aren't millions around....left it too late for the Aston le Walls one next weekend....next one in our area is Ascott under Wychwood, mid July, which I am going to enter, but then Mattingley at end of July I can't do....however I could do Iping, but its only one week after AuW.....
Do you guys ever event two weekends running? He's a fairly fit pure bred arab, has jumped a few intros so 80s should be well within his scope.... Both venues prob an hour and half from home and he's a very good traveller. But would it be a bit much to ask him to go out two weekends running like that? And then off to the RC teams at Hickstead the following weekend! He could rest all week in between I guess!?
Also Iping - never been, anyone done the 80T there? It looks on map ike its not miles beyond Munstead, is that the case?

ETA Hoping to move back up to intro after a couple of 80s but am not registered at the moment so cheaper day tickets and less balloting appeals!

I quite often compete my horse at BE90 two weekends in a row. Sometimes we have no choice if we want to do the local events. I can't see it being a problem for a reasonably fit horse. Probably judge it on how your horse feels.... if he's tired you can stop. Just give him a few easier days in the week. Sorry not seen the BE80 courses at Iping. Good luck.:D

if your horse is fit and normally recovers well and its not 30 degree heat he should be fine to run two weekends in a row.

I did an intro last sunday and am doing another this sunday, mainly because my next event after Sunday won't be for a month!!

To be honest though Fleur is fit and looking very well and within 20mins of finishing cross country was completely recovered to the point you wouldn't have guessed she had done all three phases within 90 mins! The following day on her 'quiet' leg stretch hack she was shall we just say full of energy and as sound as a pound ;)

It is very much down to the individual horse though but there shouldn't be anything stopping you at that level.

My 6 year old does 2 or 3 in a row then no competing for 2 or 3 weeks. Seems to work well in short bursts where he can get going week after week. This week he is off all week as he has just done Stockland Lovell, Winkleigh and Pontispool over 3 consecutive weekends - he will SJ on the 20th June and another HT on the 27th followed by Glanusk International on the 3rd, Search 4 a Star Workers on the 4th (a bit harsh i know!) then a weekend of camp, then 2 weekends of BE on the trot - then he'll have another break before 1 in aug, 1 in sept and 2 in Oct. So in total 9 BE events over the season from May-Oct :)

Definitely as long as he's reasonably fit. Maybe not week after week at higher level eventing but at the low levels I don't see why they couldn't do 3 or 4 weekends in a row to be honest, as long as the ground isn't too hard (which increasingly it seems to be for most of the summer )

When I was younger I took my ponies and horses to Pony Club camp, my God they were worked 10 times harder there than I ever work my 17hh tb eventer now! Jumping and xc for 2 hours several times throughout the week and they never seemed any the worse for it :)

I'd happily do 2 or 3 in a row and then give them a couple of weeks without an event. On a fit horse and at low levels 80/90/100 i dont think its a problem at all. :)

What about Bury Farm at Slapton on the 19th June - can't be a million miles from you? There is a discussion about it on here somewhere, I can't really comment about the course - I suspect a lot will be portables but what isn't these days! We were there for dressage i the winter and were talking to the owner - they will be running BE events next year so I would imagine they will want to make a good impression at this event to encourage entries next year.
