If you can reload iTunes, I think there is a facility for loading FROM the iPod.... But check this out with iTunes first.

Yeah I think you will lose the stuff on your ipod. It will try to sync and say that this is a new itunes and it will delete it off your pod. I had to set up a new account on my mac and even then it wouldn't recognise the computer and wiped the lot

There is software you can download to enable an ipod to be synchronized to another laptop/itunes without problems. My boyfriend has a peice of software he downloaded for free which enabled my ipod to be synchronized to his itunes so I could take some of his songs. We have macs but there must be software for windows too. Try typing in Ipod freeware into google

I can't remember what it is called, but there is software for recovering what is on your Ipod - Google should find it for you.
Also, when you do get it up and running again, if you tick enable disk usage, and mannually manage music options, it wont auto sync when you plug it into a laptop and it will let you use other software to load up your ipod without losing what's on it. This means, that you won't have this problem again should you have any further pc problems and you arent just stuck using itunes!

its standard on itunes - when you go to sync - you will be asked if you want to copy what is on your ipod onto your pc - and then it will back up. You are allowed to have upto something like 6 pc's where you can back your ipod onto hence why you can do it without losing your content. Just go onto the apple site - I have done it 3 times now and safely!

I got a new pc and just plugged my ipod in and it just came up with itunes I think. It wasn't complicated whatever i did cos i'm a complete numpty?! Do check with apple tho would hate to give you bad advice! x
