I have a horse with double stifle arthoscopy and surgeon recommend irap for right hind...this is going to cost 1.5k at least according to vet what is success rate?

OP I'll be interested in responses too - I have a mare who has recently been diagnosed with knee joint arthritis and she had her 2nd IRAP injection last week, we are hacking daily and can now start light schooling again prior to reexamination at the end of next week. I've no idea quite what to expect by way of improvement but the process thus far has been very straightforward and stress-free for her, so fingers crossed.

IRAP helped my horse with OCD of the stifles a lot-although he only became light work sound again after a year off and alot of rehab but he went from non-weightbearing lame to 1/10 lame on a bad day eventually. Surgically they could do nothing for him.
He only had IRAP in one stifle and it cost me ~£500 in 2011 from a not for profit university practice.

i know its a bit late but hey..... my mare was diagnosed with EMS we trated and medicated but was still lame, after going in for xrays it was found she had degeneration on both front coffin joints, due to to her ems the steriod injections would be a massive risk so we decided on IRAP injections, well my mare had 3 or 4 i cant quite remember and we have been completly sound evey since

i would just say though i saw absolutly no improvement after the 1st only very slight after the 2nd and complete soundeness after the 3rd.

they are the dearer option but i cant priase it enough

Kind of agree with this. My mare has been out competing in the latter part of this year and is feeling really good; she had a reassessment with the vet earlier this week who says she's moving as well as he has ever seen and is happy with what he is seeing and my mare is looking well and very happy in herself. Pretty pleased with the effect and the fact that we haven't had to go down a steroids route.
