The 5 points earned from Equal 5th place in this afternoon's Nations Cup Final in Barcelona weren't enough to save Ireland from relegation from the Samsung Super League. Germany won the Final without Marcus Ehning needing to start in the 2nd round. The Dutch World Champion Team Gold medallists were in 2nd, and took the League title by a margin of nearly 20 points. GB finished 6th in the League on 30 points, 8 ahead of Ireland.

I don't think Ireland's cause was helped by only having Jessica on one team during the series, and it's unfortunate that World Cruise's infection meant him being left out of the Barcelona team.

It means we can no longer compete in the Super League.

The bigs shows such as Achen, Hicksted and Dublin, in order to qualify again we would need to win the Nation Cup League!

Only the top 8 teams can compete in the super league and every year the worst team is relegated, in this case us

Yes, the only Super League Nations Cup that Ireland can contest next year will be Dublin and the team will not be able to take points from it.

Oh bum!!!!!
I was at Necarne all week and no-one there was interested, so logged on as soon as I got home and nothing on H&H site either. Thanks for letting us know. I feel that JK has let her country down. If we had been able to field our best team all year, we would have been well away from the danger zone by this stage.

The FEI homepage suggestst that Belgium are the ones most likely to move up. I think they went down last year from memory

sad we have to wait until next year. i love the super leagues. just wish more of them were broadcast live so we didn't knw the results when we're watching them on sky later on. One day i'll try and go to each one - it's one of those 'thngs you want to do before you die' type of experience I have on my wish list.

TBH i really don't think its such a bad thing we're relegated. we can go away to all the smaller cups and really build up our younger horses. i think fighting to get back into the league will really help everyone regroup as a proper team and help put an end to all the division in the camp. i said that this time last year and everyone disagreed with me and now alot of people are agreeing with me. we have some super younger horses eg conor swail's horse rivaal coming up the ranks that need a year cutting their teeth in the smaller nation's cups and it will really strengthen the team. some of the younger riders as well need the opportunity to go to more of these nations cup eg Olive Clarke and Sarah Kate Quinlivan both of whom have been on teams before and will be serious future contenders
