Irish Draught horses.... Hi all
We are new to buying and about to buy a lovely IDH. I have done some honework on them but wondering if anyone has any good advice or 'watch for'.....'before we proceed. We are at vet check stage.
One question in particular....should they have a green Irish Draught Horse Society passport.... This one is yellow with no vaccinations shown??
Thanks

Is her breeding shown in full and DNA verified? doing a quick search there seem to be no yellow passports issued to IDs here or in Ireland, donkeys have yellow ones in Ireland from what I could find so I would be very wary and want to double check before committing to buy, JG is very involved and will have a definitive answer, send her the breeding details and she is sure to know all about the bloodlines.

Thank you so much!
Good question.... I don't know if her breeding was shown in full. The seller pointed out that her passport numbers were all present and I flicked through, in honesty, not really knowing what I was looking for. I checked her markings and noticed that no vaccinations had been entered which raised an alarm bell. I thought by the age of 7 at some point she would have had some vaccinations???
By pure chance I came across the Irish Draught Horse Society which mentioned Green passports with a gold emblem - this horse certainly didn't have one of those.
She's a lovely horse, a lot of money, but a lovely horse and perfect for our requirements. But as an inexperienced horse person, I am obviously being careful. The horse is for my 14 yr old daughter who is 'horsey' through and through. This is our first purchase having previously loaned.

I have found Janet George on this site and will message her.
One more Q..... as a prospective buyer, am I entitled to ask the seller to see her breeding details? If so, I'll message them.
Thank you so much for your help.x

All passports will have numbers, even for unregistered stock, as she is only supposed to be 7 then I would expect everything to be in order, you are entitled to see or get sent a copy of breeding details before going further, they can easily be checked online, if she is the horse for your daughter breeding or lack of it is not really relevant but selling under false pretences is not a good start and makes you wonder what else they may not be telling the truth about, if she is expensive do your homework.
I am more than happy to take a look at the ad or any other details if you send me them by pm. I am experienced in buying and selling and can often read between the lines to get a better picture of what may be going on.

Your inbox is full so posting here, found nothing untoward about them, you still need to double check the passport/ breeding details etc and make sure you have a full 5 stage vetting by the vet of your choice before going ahead.
She is long in the back and rather weak looking at times in the video so ensure nothing shows up in that area or her hindlegs at the vetting and if it does be prepared to walk away.
