What would a judge be specifically be looking with an Irish Draught?
What classes do they usually take part in?
Has there been an Irish Draught win a class/classes at a big show? (e.g. HOYS)
How are they expected to be presented in specific classes?
Any specifications on presentation?

HOY's Loughern Dancing Lord and many others

Turn out as hunter, tweed in day and pink for championships

Are Irish Draughts usually good to pass a 5 stage vetting? I know it all depends on their background, age, breeding etc but has anyone had any experiences with not passing a 5 stage vetting with an Irish Draught?

As a breed, they're no more or less likely to pass a vetting than any other. They're a pretty tough and hardy breed!

That is an impossible question really. A hard hunted and hammered ID could be totally crocked as could any other breed. A well conformed and just broken 4 year old of any breed should pass a vetting easily.

You need to judge what is in front of you when you are trying them with a view to purchase. If there is anything glaringly wrong there will be little point in sending it to the vet. A knowledgeable friend would be a great help to you.

Where are you based OP ? The midlands ID show is this weekend and the NW ID show is next weekend. If you can get to either it might be worth it then you can watch us all in action. Probably the best way to start filling in some of your questions. Alternatively have a look at some of the county & Ag shows to see if they have ID classes.
