A bit embarrassed about this question but I am baffled. Am now venturing into the showing world with my veteran pure ID and, apart from an open show for veterans (ridden and in-hand) I can't seem to find anything locally that caters for the ID breed??? He isn't a working hunter, he isn't a mountain and Moorland, not a cob, not a coloured horse, nor is he riding club. Am I being completely thick here? If he were younger what would he do if he weren't able to join the veteran scene? He spent 12 years of his life as a riding school horse and prior to that he hunted. He is now a hacking horse, though trust 'hack' class means something more than simply a 'hacking' horse?

Have a look at the Irish draught website. Depends where you are in Country as the ID Society hold ID shows throughout the country. Also some shows hold classes for ID or they even give rossettes out to highest placed ID's. The address for the website is www.idhsgb.com/web. Hope this helps. I have a pure bred ID and have always managed to find shows to take her too. Good luck.

It tends to be the bigger shows that have ID classes. Some people with IDs multi-task and show in a hunter/working hunter class as well. Mind you don't pay too much attention to me, I've only had mine for 2 weeks and I'm still getting the hang of it!

I had a PB ID and he went well in Show Hunter Classes- so no jumping involved here- but needs to resemble a horse that could go out hunting all day and come back safely and have good conformation and be well manered. Or county shows often have ID classes too. Hack classes are for much 'finer' types horses that in the olden days were the thing to be 'seen on'

I have an RID mare and there aren't many ID classes near me either and she's not yet a veteran. I do hunter classes with my girl and I'm sure your boy will fir in somewhere. Have you any piccies? Also, you could contact your local ID rep and ask them if they could encourage ID classes and some local shows.
