Hi, I'm spending a week travelling around Southern Ireland soon & wondered if anyone can recommend any good horsey shops to visit? Are there any big superstores? :-D
Thanks in advance..
Holmestead Sadderly is just outside of Dublin (south) and TRI is based in the Curragh in Kildare - they'd be the main ones. The equine warehouse can be quite good for the odd bargain and is based in Clonmel in county Tipperary. Other than that, there are a few smaller tack shops that are quite good - definitely not super stores though but depending on where you're headed, could probably point you in the direction of some of the smaller ones if that's any good to you?
Both Holmestead and Tri are just off the main Dublin - Limerick road and are well signposted. You come to Holmestead first on your left and then TRI is beside the Curragh racecourse which is very well signposted and off to your right. Not far off this road and situated between the two superstores (closer to TRI) and based in Kilcullen is the renowned saddlers Berney Bros, a more old fashioned shop where they actually still make saddles by hand, well worth a visit if just for the smell of new leather !! As I*HM has said The Equine Warehouse in Clonmel is also good but quite a distance from Dublin unless you are in the area. TRI and The Equine Warehouse have good websites to check out.
