So have just moved to Ireland.

Are there any Irish people who can give me an idea of what is considered good hacking? There seems to be a difference between the here and UK but not sure if it is this area or those I have met.

I think good hacking is multiple routes that include roads but also off road/tracks, feilds etc. Ideally circular.

This is really interesting to read as I always imagined Ireland having lots of hacking! Is Northern Ireland any different? Also are there areas with lots of narrow lanes and not much big traffic? My old boy came from Longford area - what’s that like?

Lots of narrow lanes but lots of big farm machinery to dodge, no big wide verges to get on. Usually narrow lanes with quite deep ditches either side so handy if you can do a nice smart trot to reach a narrow gateway before there is a standoff with the farmer driving. The farmer always wins.😂
