So visited the rescue centre today and fell in love with a young wolfhound cross (or so they believe).

We were looking for a medium-large dog.

She is around knee height at present still with baby teeth and a smooth coat (bar a wirey face). A very sweet dog. I've guessed at her been around 12-15weeks?

I have no experience of this breed at all, but do have experience with large dogs. But I've been sat worrying about the sheer final size!

Has anyone got any experiences?

The purebreds have quite a short lifespan (as do most giant breeds) can take quite a bit of grooming, can be prone to hip and elbow problems (again, as are a lot of giant breeds) and bloat (as are a lot of deep chested breeds)

Don't go mad with high impact exercise (jumping repetitively, long walks on hard surfaces, in and out of car, up and down stairs) or shove them full of huge levels of protein (large breed puppy foods, hmm, lots of rocket fuel!!) as they are growing to minimise growth problems and impact on the joints,

As with any dog, bear in mind what they were bred to do and if those kinds of traits will fit in with your lifestyle)
