My 12yo staffy has had a bit of a loose bum lately which didn't clear up with changing her food or starving 24hrs and bland dinner and this morning she vomited in her crate then again after her breakfast.

Trip to vet who says she's quite tender in the tummy and a bit gassy. Urine all clear so no diabetes or anything. Have been sent home with antibiotics, anti sickness and probiotic and if it doesn't clear full work up will be done.

Chicken and rice dinners for the next few days!

Has anyone any experience with ibd as vet says that's her gut feeling at the moment cause other than the bum and vomit she's her normal happy self.

My girl was diagnosed with a form of inflammatory bowel disease (lymphoplasmacytic enteritis) following a referral endoscopy and biopsies at the end of last year. She was also diagnosed with gastric ulceration and later on pancreatitis but we think she had had the IBD for longer than we appreciated.

She was on a heap of medication for a very long time to try to balance all of the conditions. For the IBD specifically, she had a course of fenbendazole in case it was parasitic. Then a course of metronidazole alongside tramadol and anti-emetic medication and a very strict prescription diet. We still failed to control it, so she had a course of steroids which didn't really agree with her.
She is now down to just tramadol at night for the ibd and other meds for the ulceration.

Her main symptoms were diarrhoea, vomitting and lip smacking ++. These have largely settled now that we are passed the huge flare up that she had, she still has periods of lip smacking and is still far 'looser' than is normal but she is finally back to being a happy, bouncy dog again.
I know we will have flare ups in the future but it is reassuring to have made it through this one when at times it seemed never ending.

I am extremely strict with her diet - she gets absolutely nothing except her prescription diet - tough but better than risking another flare up unecessarily.

Yes she tends to do that too. She's on metronidazole now for a week along with the probiotic paste. Vet said worm her after the antibiotics are finished so she's not getting too much at once and that she didn't think worms would cause vomiting so beat to treat that first.

Hopefully she will form up a bit and maybe avoid loads of tests she stresses out at the vets a bit.
