Someone has offered to bring my two horses in of an evening over the winter change rugs and then feed my other 4 out in the field - of an evening during the week at my yard!

Would only take about half/hour at max

Do you think £10 a day (£50 a week Mon-Fri) is enough to give them?

I would think so, if they don't have far to travel. We have a teenage girl that comes on a Sunday morning, and she feeds, turns out (changing rugs if need be), and mucks out four horses. We pay her £12 for one and a half/two hours. Sometimes we have a qualified groom that does for us, and we pay her £12/hr, which a lot of people think is expensive, but I know she's capable of dealing with stroppy horses, and has a good back up team if there are any problems. I'd pay more to have peace of mind - as I often work away.

Plenty I get £10 a day to turnout, change rugs both ends of the day & muck out 2 1/2 stables (ones a shetland), feed & hay. Can I have a job too please!

I charge £5 per day per horse for feed and rug changes for those living out and £9 per day per horse for those who are in. I think it is just the same responsibility and the time it takes to muck out is roughly the same as a thorough field andpony check.

So I would say that that is reasonable, I would cut a deal if one person had multiples though.

If only you all lived in Enfield!!!

When we moved to or own yard about 8 years ago we use to have someone come down during the day to muck out get in and feed during the winter!

As i work in london i dont get up there till 6:30 so thought it would help us out - unfortunately they were turing up to do the jobs when we were so really wasnt working out - then she was just skipping out hiding the poo and trying to do everything in record time so we got rid of her!

Dad is struggling with his asthma and i can cope with it all on my own after work i the dark so thought i might try and get some help of an evening! Im so worried about getting an unreliable person again....

do you have an agriculture or equine collage near you? they can tend to leave early judging by the people on the yard i am at, maybe an advert for part time work.
