Well at the local pony club there is a class called Open Showing. This class is after the 12.2, 13.2 and 14.2 showing. Those three classes all have show pony types in. The really posh ones with the flicky toes ect.
So my question is - Is a cob allowed in Open Showing? I though open showing was like the other showing classes but 14:3 and above.
You see, my friend went in Open Showing at the last show and she came 2nd to a cob. And we just though it was strange.
We did question the comitee but they didnt really give us an answer.
Thanks in advance.

Normally the schedule will state if the class is intended for show hacks/hunters/whatever. If they have simply siad it is for horses over a certain height, then as far as I am concerned it is open to any horse within that size range - it is only a local show after all.

yes, open showing at that level anything can take part, the same as novice showing. affiliated showing maybe different though.

In a class like 'Open Showing' each horse is judged on its own merits for its type. If it was a good true to type cob, which went well it probably deserved its place at the top of the line.

i always take open showing to mean open to any type however i do find some judges will put all the show horses at the top while others will mix up the bunch we usually do ok in an open showing class with our section d
