Now that its better weather (most snow around the country disappearing etc) do you think horsey properties are starting to sell?

My agent is telling me that houses (ie non horsey) are starting to sell but equestrian properties not so.

People who are selling - What are your experiences around the county? Are things starting to pick up?

I want to move this year, but have had hardly any interest in my place. Praps I'm too impatient!

I would love to be, but unfortunately everything within our price range is just too far away. We plan to wait & see if anything local crops up as at the moment we both love our jobs too much to consider relocating.

Good luck with selling your place & finding somewhere new :-)

We'd buy one but they are far too expensive for not alot of acreage.

OH has said he'd put up with a smaller house that needs work for more acres!

We've been looking to buy in ne England for 2 years now. Everything is just silly money.

7-10 acres with a house that needs doing up is going for 1.5 million!!

Here you are, have mine, please, someone take it.

I am bored and don't want it anymore :) Seriously.

50 acres, sand gallop, half mile oval gallop, sand arena, 10 stables, various other barns and sheds, round pen, various machines tractor etc, included in price, oh, and a three bed house on a quiet road 15 miles from Burford. OIRO 400K

Op i'm in carmarthen and nothing is selling here, perfect property that I would kill for has been market for 4 years and is a bargain.

Enfys - really are you serious?? We're in Cheshire and looking but everything is stupid money round here. There's nothing keeping us here however so if you'd PM me some details we would be interested. Thanks!

Are you with a equestian property agent like rural scene or just a bog standard estate agent ??? Im half looking and getting an idea what is available but not in a position to buy somewhere just yet
but it seems more by accident than anything else to find houses with land on the average agents books ..

Yes there is some realy nice places at very tempting prices in west and mid wales, sadly we need to be in Cheshire (double the price) or Shropshire (Stupid prices) oh well onward and upward:D

We have a lovely 5 bed house with 6.75 acres plus sand school on quiet country lane in West Sussex. It has taken us 2 years to finally sell and to a totally non horsey couple. We had 2 sales go tits up because of idiots further down the chain and we have had no horsey viewers at all. I was really surprised as hacking is reasonably good with quiet lanes. We eventually sold for £200.000 below asking price.

@ Enfys: Ok I'm either extremely gullible or your being serious... Do enlighten me! ;)

I am entirely serious, the only problem is that I live in Canada. :o The Burford bit was a bit of a tease, although that is our nearest town. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burford,_Ontario

I am a gypsy at heart and six and a half years in one place is pushing it, I am sick to death of looking after other people's horses and having little time for my own, I want my life back. So, time to move on.

We have neighbours whose house with land and stables has been on the market for 3 years and reduced twice, with apparently no interest. Admittedly I think it was over-priced originally and the decor would not be to every-one's taste but still ............

If I win big on the lottery I will be buying an equestrian property. :D It would still be in Scotland though - unless Alex Salmond gets his way then I'll hop over the border.

Crikey that's a lot of money. Mine has 7 acres and house is a new build, and far less than a third of that price!

My place is very similar to yours Hollyberry, we have a sand school and in a quiet area with lovely hacking (and beaches too), and similarly, I have reduced my property by £150,000! I will take an offer below my asking price as well, so will probably be closer to £200,000 off the asking price in the end!

You'd think a place like yours, perfectly set up for horses, would attract loads of horsey viewers?

Property with land and buildings on are a lot less on the Staffordshire edge of Cheshire than you are quoting.

3 properties with house and land sold round here in last 6 months for reasonable prices, and only 45 mins from Chester. Sadly now all sold, but don't rule out edges of Cheshire as there are bargins still at times! (My house and 8 acres were a bargin but 25 years ago, and OH and myself both worked in Cheshire!)
