I am worried that I might stay up and it is abandoned TBH, the weather over there looks foul! I do hope that if the conditions are adverse that the optimum time is revised.
yeah revising it would make sense..
there is a video of the Xc on another thread and right at the end the person filming shows their feet as theyre walking along and there is just pure surface water - one wonders whether xc would be safe?!
my mind just flicked back to the tragic accident of Nullabor recently - he slippedo n the flat so if the ground is this bad already...
dreads to think about really
though on the flip side there are qualified technical delegates etc and the riders know their horses and arent stupid. WFP is particularly picky about ground
Was just about to post about this- yes im very worried. Have visions of horses taking a tumble and doing some serious damage to themselves/ their rider. I know its the risk you take when riding but not nice thinking its an accident waiting to happen with the time and conditions.

To be fair it looked deep but, off that video anyway, it looked no way like there was surface water. I think the foot footage was taken on a walkway because it was quite churned up, by the looks of it, and I don't think the organisers would of allowed that on the actual course or at least the approach to the fences.
sorry. i hope that is the case anyway!
tbf i trust the organisers to realise that if it was that bad they would postphone it - and surely in such a wealthy company there would be the highest level of technology to deal with such conditions
Also, that video was posted a few days ago and the riders have walked the course a few times since then and I haven't heard or read any concerns about the safety of the course or the ground conditions.
Yes, I'm very worried. Looked at the Met Office forecast for Hong Kong and its cloudy with squally showers and thunderstorms. Not promising! It's going to be difficult enough for us, and just hope that the less experienced riders, like the Belorussians and the Poles, keep their heads and stay aware of the conditions.
I'm reading this, sitting in Hong Kong - looking out of the window at clear skies.....that could change through the night but there is no typhoon type weather forecast - just alot of rain - is this any different to the UK? Apart from the fact its 30c here.....
The HKese have put contigency plans into place for bad weather - so don't worry too much..
I don't think it should encourage dangerous riding, hopefully they should risk getting faults and not a fall.
If the ground is very bad and it isn't called off I can't see many of our riders at least taking the risk.
Fingers crossed.
phew glad to hear from someone out there in HK you have put my mind nearly at ease, hope its not too hot for u mind!
might go and have a nap now so im ready and raring for the action in a couple of hours!
So glad to hear that. Such a relief that the weather is actually looking better there. I was watching some of the cycling just now on TV, presumably near Beijing ( I missed the beginning) and the conditions were just AWFUL.
