I swear my pony is the most stubborn pony in the world ever.

The farrier commented on it last week, when Murphy insisted he didn't want to move so he ended up standing on 3 legs in the most ridiculous, impossible position while the farrier put his shoes on.

He can also canter very small circles on the wrong leg out of sheer stubborn-ness, because he has decided he doesn't want to go on the correct leg.

On the gallops he refused to go in to canter on the right leg, preferring to sneak in a flying change (

surely my pony cannot do flying changes?!

) when he thought I wouldn't notice.

On Friday I put a little tiny easy peasy cross pole up but Murphy really did not want to bother with jumping it, he kept stumbling over it half-heartedly so I decided we'd give up on jumping that day, he clearly wasn't in the mood. Walking round the school 5 mins later, i wasn't really paying attention to what he was doing and all of a sudden he sped up, headed sideways across the school in trot and leapt over the jump

I couldn't stop laughing afterwards!!

I do love him to bits, he's a character, but he is so damn stubborn.

Ay other stubborn horseys out there?!

My old boy Donnegan had a wicked stubborn streak

When he retired last winter we thought because of his arthritis he could stay out 24/7 a bit longer than the rest of them with my friends filly. Unfortunately D had other idea's and when he came in for his tea he would point blankly refuse to go back out with the filly

We used to have to walk my friends mare, normally with her pj's on

back to the field to get him to move

My horse can be like a mule. I think he was in shock on Sunday when I took him XC. We were late so I threw his tack on and round he went but it took a lot of spurs, whip and vocal encouragement from me, he was backing off everything! And when I got him I had to teach him to gallop - he didnt know how and he's 10! hahah spose thats what comes of only doing SJ.

Donnegan does sound like he was a real character

One of my horses is incredibly stubborn, he's stupid enough that he usually ends up doing more/harder work because he doesn't want to do something that's easy. Silly boy
