Cannot decide whether to clip him or not. His coat has not grown that much but he has lost that lovely shine and just generally looks ratty. I want a smart horse not a ratty looking one! I pulled his mane and tail and that has made a little difference. Anyone else same problem?
 
Yep before xmas winston was looking a bit ropey needing to be clipped but hadnt grown a huge coat.
Popped him on veggie oil and gave him a reclip plus pulled mane and tail and now he looks amazing!

Certainly worth making the effort! i hate clipping but the end result is much more appealing lol
 
Mine is looking and feelin too well!!
Her coat hadn't grown too much but as you say loked ratty so i took it off and she now looks really well
 
I'd clip again... if they're clipped in the autumn and then left till January you usually get that dull ratty look to the coat. Give him another one and you'll probs find his shine under there somewhere!
 
one of mine looks the same, am tempted to clip again...will proberly be worth the effort

Bo was...until he was clipped. Now his shine is back and he looks much better

Decision made - he will have it off again! I have him on Baileys Outshine which is great (bought by mistake as did not know how much it was and by time it was loaded into car a bit late as do not pay till after loading!) so will plonk him on veg oil again as he was having that till outshine. But mane and tail look smart after squashing me several times.
 
I could do with clipping again but can't be bothered - I have to pull his mane, it sort of curls underneath itself from his neck cover
 
Will do it next week - I have a good excuse clipper blades need sharpening! I hate it but hate scruffy manky looking horse more!
 
Yes. My two's clips have grown back... but am putting off clipping until Feb so can make it my last one and am very tempted to take the whole lot off though not sure if this is such a good idea....? They have blanket clips at the moment. Also have another 2 to clip in Feb... HELP ME!!!! I hate hair everywhere (which is why i'm tempted to take the whole lot off in one go rather than deal with moulting hair later on!).
 
Actually you have motivated me, as I'm about to advertise him again I will clip him to make him look pretty...

Now do I attempt to do his legs or not?
 
Sienna looks awful. Had the saddle fitter out today and was so embarrassed I groomed her wearing my work suit..

Looks like I will be running an equine beauty parlour on Sunday now instead of competing on a hairy horse....
4 sets of manes & tails to pull, 3 bib & belly clips, 4 lots of feathers to remove & 4 tails to wash, deep joy. Might even be daring and clean some tack

They are very hairy and make him look common...

however when I first got him he was an absolute git to clip, and he tends to paw with his legs when he gets bored.
 
That was the first itme I tried to clip him without drugs - nice straight lines. I had to give up when he kept throwing himself on the ground, 3 of us holding him as well

I am going to clip Sarnie again in a couple of weeks as she is looking untidy - it might be a bit of a scap as not much coat there.

Funnily enough Rags lives out fully clipped and well rugged and his coat has kept really well - weird.
 
I'd clip him again, Layla looked awful first time around, post ringworm and her coat was dull.
Second clip last week is much better, loads of shine though we can't yet clip off the re-growth of ringworm hair it's too fine. I wanted to use the dog clippers which would have removed the tell tale circles (she isn't infectious now) but CCJ said the bald patches would look funny...I'd rather have bald quick growing patches than zillions of circles of hair..
I think because it's so unseasonably warm the horse's body clocks are confused, we have camelias out in bloom here and we're Dartmoor for heaven's sake!
 
yes, mine were looking v scruffy this morning, clips starting to grow out - so I did a quick skim over them to get rid of cat-hairs, and trimmed under their chins/necks, and they look so much better. They hadnt really grown enough coat to need clipping again, so that worked really well. Amazing how tidying up the jawline and ears can make then look so much smarter!
 
LMAO I bet Boss needs a mane pull more than Moon at the moment!! He is soooooo clean but soooooooooo wooly - I will take a piccie as he looks like a teddy bear

I will be putting him back into full work on Monday and will prob have to clip then - bugger!
 
Only clipped mine about 3 weeks ago and already he looks a mess! Looks like an exmoor pony with his wispy bits of hair everywhere.
When i feel better he desp needs a re clip!! lol

This is the first year Finni hasn't looked awful -but has taken lots of effort.

Soya oil has done wonders and have had him on Pink Powder for past week and he is looking even shinier and actually can't see his ribs (usually by this time in Winter they are on show

I also detest clipping but luckily have a friend who loves it

Otherwise known as Silverstream (second at HOYS in HW hunters) and The Philanderer (winner at the National Champs large riding horse!)

They will come in within the next week or so, be clipped and their summer coats will come through perfectly (we hope!)
