I am moving Fred down to Edinburgh at the end of this month and I have been offered a job where I can live at the yard, Fred gets free livery and I have to do a bit of mucking out, feeding, exercising in return. It's a lovely yard with good facilities but I am starting to think if I livery Fred there, live there and kind of work there it will all get a bit much.

I really like Haddington and North Berwick and just wondered if anyone knew of any nice livery yards around these areas?

Also, if anyone can think of anything else whether it be good or bad about the area, that would be great

I nearly took a job there at a place called Whitegates or something, but it was too far to travel from Glasgow, the place looked very nice and was everything I was looking for except too far away.

I think the hacking in the area is great, its a very horsey area.

Hope you will be very happy there.
 
I'm not from East Lothian but have ridden there a fair bit and can confirm the hacking is superb. Lots of disused railway lines linking Pencaitland, Tranent, Ormiston etc, and there are established payrides as well. I know of one excellent yard at Hillhead, near Cousland, but that's a bit nearer Edinburgh than the area you were looking for. There's also Harelaw, at Longniddry, but I don't know much about it.

EquiAds usually carries ads for livery yards round there.
 
The first place isn't Dalkeith Park is it? Don't go there!!!

Sorry I don't know many of hte yards in East Lothian, in general I find most of the yards are not really competition yards around Edinburgh but more sort of general livery yards, and none of them really huge.
 
I bought my horse from a breeder who has a livery yard near haddington at East Linton. Her name is ann and the livery yard is called Stonelaws livery I think if you google it it comes up or it used to!!
