I have a Tb and might have to put a medium weight rug on him. I was just wondering if anyone else was putting a medium weight rug on their horse/pony this time of year?
No, I am in Essex and it is too warm for rugs for my cob apart from his fly rug. If it goes below 12 and is wet and windy I will put on a LW, no fill t/o as the field has not much natural shelter.
If I still had my old TB, I would probably have in her in summer t/o to keep the rain off - she was very fine coated and fine skinned and as she got older, she need need to be kept warm and dry.
Yes my mare is out at night and she has a middle on overnight! My big boy is on and he has a light/middle stable rug on as he has been looking so tucked up!
Yes, last night and tonight. They are out but do have a field shelter but the coats were up a bit so have rugged last two nights. Has been raining hard on and off all day and we now have mud!
Not a MW but my ID has his WB Thermocell (bit lighter weight than a Thermatex) on under his rainsheet & the rainsheet has a neck cover attached too. Yesterday morning he was really quite chilly in just a rainsheet & neck cover, this morning he was fine with the extra rug underneath. I've also left a summer sheet on when he's stabled during the day for the last two days - it's not just the temperature but how rapidly it's changed & the strong winds.
yes my mare has had a medium weight rug on all summer i think she has had it off for one day she is just such a wimp she is a fine connemara and totaly pathetic a drop of rain and she will stand and shiver
MW stable rugs on at night and LW turn outs on during the day, but one is 31 and the other is 19 and they both hate getting wet and cold..... the tiny pony is out naked

I posted about this in NL last night.
Similar here. Got to the field last night and he was rooted to the spot because of the rain and wind. Brought him out the field to feed and change rug and he refused to go back in the field and when he did he stood at the gate, refusing to move again in his super warm MW turnout with neck!
My warmblood was in a high neck medium weight lat night.......back in the lightweight during the day though. I'm starting to consider bringing him in at night unless the weather improves. The field is trashed and muddy.
Yes, I put one on my NF at the weekend when it was very wet and windy. He managed to catch a chill last year in the really awful weather wearing a LW rug, so I'm not so hard on him now. Only a cotton sheet in the stable though for bedtime.
No had a rug on at all even when raining - it's still 20 degrees ish here in the day and 12 - 14 overnight - even my 'cold running' wimpy gelding hasn't been shivering
mine were in last night as weather been horrific and they'd been out in their summer turnouts but were miserable and standing around shivering, they went back out this morning though. I'm hoping they'll get a few more weeks before we move onto thicker rugs but if they keep getting so cold and wet i'll have to re think.
Nope my TB is rugless, except he's getting a cotton sheet some nights when he's in and the temperature is dropping, and a waterproof sheet when out on wet days, but he's looking well and has been toasty warm in the mornings without anything more. MW rug reserved for when it gets cold, though I may rug-up early this year to try and minimise the hairy coat as he really hates clipping.
