I put quite a few horsey things on ebay all pretty much new and very expensive to buy in the shops. I have 100 % feedback and have done really good photos and descriptions for each item.. I have also listed everyone of my items at £ 2 or 99p start and very little postage I am actually going to pay part of the postage costs.. These items cost a fortune to buy new and still do look as new..

I have loads of watchers but no bidders.. It's ending tomorrow I wish now I hadn't put such a low start on my items as they were expensive when bought :(

Has anyone been able to sell anything at a decent price ?

I really hope my things go for a good price I hate to separate with them as they are all so wonderful but have no use for them anymore as I don't ride ned and I need to buy rubber matting for my stables :(
 
It's so disappointing isn't it? :( I'm in the same boat, loads of lovely horsey things on ebay, brand new/used once in excellent condition (I really look after my things!) - and no one seems to want them. It's such a shame as they are really lovely items and so expensive to buy new (yet people do!) - I don't want to part with them but just don't need certain things anymore.
I also have 3 pairs of jodhpurs/breeches I need to get rid of (lost weight!) - they are all brand new and cost about £50 each but I have no idea how I will get anything back on those as similar ones on ebay are going for £3!

I have had some luck with preloved / horsey facebook groups in the past so that could be worth a try if you haven't used those? x

This is exactly the same thing for me. These items are really expensive new and they are just like new yet I suppose people want original packaging ?

I have tried on fb etc. but no replies ebay was my last resort.. :(

I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that things will pick up tomorrow when the listings finish :) One person has bid the starting price on every item :(
 
If only one person has bid, even though they bid £1000 for each item, the item price will only show as the starting price until (unless) other people bid against them.
 
there's recession on ;) I've just sold 3 BNWT breeches for £25 each-retailers are selling them at £65. I have other items that I just hate to sell for a pittance so won't. I would try forums/FB etc first.
 
If your worried about them ending low could you not end all the listings early and then relist. I always find only way to sell on ebay now is buy it now unless its special
 
What are you selling, maybe I'll go check it out to get a bargain? ;)

Just remember on bidding auctions people like to wait until last minute to bid in attempt to keep the price down, for example the earlier they start bidding the higher the price can get as there's more time to build it up...

It's just the way ebay is people are so cheap they will do anything to keep the price down unfortunately for the sellers..
 
I buy quite a lot from eBay and never place a bid before 15-20 seconds from the end so if you have a few watchers it may not be so bad.

I think ebay is **** everything I list goes for nothing then everything I want goes for loads!

If anyone is in Ireland, or maybe even the UK but you would probably only get irish customers, check out www.adverts.ie its free and you just accept what you think is the right amount and you can comment away with people.
It usually takes a while to sell but at least your not paying for it and you can wait till you get the right price to sell.

Ebay is an art - you need to make sure things are ending at the right time for people to be bored shirtless with nothing to do. So later, say after 7pm but before 9pm weeknights. Not Fridays - people are out, wouldnt bother with Saturdays either. Sundays can be good. Tme it after lunch - before supper - or again around 7 ish.

Best when weather is awful. When the sun is shining people are out ooo-ing and ahh-ing over the mysterious ball of light in the sky. You can't win with this one sadly. Its changebale to say the least!

Sell for the season. No point selling a heavyweight NZ now. Fly rugs's, summer sheets etc are the hot potato's. Keep it in the garage and make what its worth at the time its needed.

Don't bother with reserves, go in with a proper opening price. Put as many pitures on as you can. Above, below, each side, front and back. This shows it doesn't have any nasty marks. Be honest, ebay has a wonderful refund and dispute system these days and a huge description. Never a reason for selling. Thats your business - it may sound like it doesn't work when it just doesn't work for you.

In my betweeny phase when I had my last (very final never ever again even if she is an angel) baby I ran a very sucessful little e-bay business. It does work, you just need to play the game.

If you think something isn't selling as OP said - end it early. Don't sell for nothing, you'll resent it - especially when you're buying one again in 6 months when you realise you needed it after all.

I have tried quite a few FB pages including local ones to me.. Have tried HHO FB page too a short while ago with no interest... seems like not a lot of people are buying ATM.. (except when I want to buy everyone bids !)

Thanks for that :D Can I still end even if someone has bid or not ? a lot of people start items off at 99p though so didn't want to start them off too high even if they are worth considerably more..
 
I usually do ok but have tried several times to sell a as new turn out rug with no joy,have had reserve on as I refuse to sell it for peanuts!
 
Hiya, you can cancel a bid and remove the item - type it into the search and it takes you to the 'form' this is limited to how long it has too run. I have on occasion made my husband buy my things though as I've left it too late and not been prepared to let them go for 'silly money'. He was of course delighted by this arrangement. :D

Preloved is always a good one. You put your own price on there, if someone offers what you don't like refuse it!
