ok guys, look at my ad and tell me why i have only had 2 phone calls for this horse??
both callers were unsuitable for the mare and nothing since these 2 calls.
i have been completly honest in her ad and ive never had problems selling anything before but their just seems no interest?
whats wrong with my ad??

I looked at her as I am considering taking another on, but I thought she was over-priced, sorry

overpriced, as others said. Also, why was she broken so late? I would expect a 6yo to have had at least one full season of competition behind her for that price, unless she had problems.
She's not very tidy with her front end either in the jumping picture.

hmm
unfortunatly the price is in her owners hands.
i had her on loan while mine was injured to break in and she was going to go back to her owner to compete her.
however her owner has brought a foal from verden and now wants issy sold.
ive put on the ad i would accept offers on her, and im thinking i will leave her on til she has been advertised for a month and then talk to her owner about dropping the price.

what would you guys say she is worth??

Also with regards to the ad - i quite liked the pictures but was put off by the video.

I think you would be better showing some flat work, or if you want to include jumping then have the horse canter on approach. Perhaps its just personal preference, but i would want to see it canter to the fence instead of trot.

Makes total sense! She has absolutely NO form, therefore the price has to reflect that. I could pick up a nice RC allrounder of her age for £4750 that has already done everything I would want to do - hunt, SJ, ODE, dressage, etc.

i know what you mean about cantering to a fence and she can now do it but at time of vid it was alien to her! hence why i mentioned her canter needing more work.
in her defence though, that vid is the 1st time she ever jumped that filler!!

I think she is a nice sort, but hasent really got the wow factor yet! Also i think she needs to have done a bit more on the flat, and get a few unaffiliated places to be worth that money. I would say around £3.250. at mo.

if i had the money to keep her i would but as im on livery i just cannot afford to keep her through the winter which is a shame as i really do think she will be good when she is finished.

im concerned about dropping her price now though as people will think their is something wrong with her which just isnt the case

I like the vid, shows a very athletic back end

I agree that she has a great jump, but as i compete SJing i guess its just my preference to see the horse canter into fences (even if her canter needs work). After all, i wouldn't trot around a course of SJ and it would be nice to see how she approachs in canter.

Gah its late and i cant think properly, i hope that makes sense.

yeah it makes sense.
i compete sj from b.novice up to 1.30 as well and i KNOW that this mare will jump up to and including newcomers. she loose schools over 1.25 at home but i didnt put that in the ad as i thought that would encourage the wrong type of people.

i will try and video her at the show tomorrow in canter and see if i can add it to her advert.

To give you some idea my friend (forester on here) is selling her very nice 6 year old anglo mare that would make a super eventer or show horse for £2500, because she has had a foal so the price reflects that she has done nothing riding wise for the last year. Different breed but still a potential competition horse. She has had only very little interest even at that price (but hopefully has now found someone!!)

she's a really nice looking horse, but i don't think the jumping photo does her justice at all. and i agree with everyone else about the price. my sister's horse, who got supreme champ in his first show with her, and does pretty advanced dressage movements (admittedly, he's 12, so not really got so much potential) cost £2000. his only vice was that he napped out hacking, but he doesn't do it anymore. the video, i thought, was good, but again, i agree that you should canter her towards the jumps.

She seems a nice sort but as most people have said, for her ability she is over priced by £1000-£1500. At this time of year it's also a buyers market, there are alot of horses out there for sale that people don't want to have to pay winter livery on. If you get the owner to consider how much her livery will be over the winter, against what she is asking for the horse, then the owner may realise that the price needs revising if there is to be any chance of selling. Sorry

I'm going to disagree and say that i don't think she's vastly over priced. . people can always make an offer. Although it's not easy to value a horse until you've seen it in the flesh and had a sit on. I like the mare, i think she is showing a nice technique over a fence, certainly good behind, just needs to be a little sharper in front which i'm sure she will in time, she isn't rushing her fences and seems to enjoy her work. I would want atleast 4000 for her if she was mine and more once she's proved herself at a few shows.

Yes things are selling at the moment, just as they always have. If you are having trouble selling then it usually comes down to the price is too high.

Don't forget this time of year does not put off buyers - they just expect horses to be cheaper now. Drop the price and no doubt the horse will sell.....either that or keep till next Spring and re-advertise then.

You have to bear in mind the market at all times, when you are selling; what may make a certain amount in the Spring/Summer, is not guaranteed to make the same figure in Autumn/Winter.

I don't think she is overpriced - drop the price too much and you will have a load of muppets after something for nothing. She has cost more than her advertised price to get to 6yo and therefore buyers must be prepared to pay a reasonable amount.

I would improve the pictures - ones of her looking a bit more mature and she should sell. I also think horsemart attracts some people who lack knowledge.

I have just dropped a horse's price and have had so many timewasting idiots - I think I would prefer to have no calls!!!!!!

I'm looking for this type of horse at the moment and she isn't overpriced. Can everyone tell me where I can get a nice youngster for £3k and I'll rush out and look at it !

Personally I quite liked the video but the last photo isn't great. If she was near me I would have rung!

thanks guys.
i did have the 4k mark in my head so it is nice to hear that some of you dont think she is that over priced.
she did her first unaffiliated show today and came 6th in the 2"6. not huge i know, had one pole in the jump off but didnt look at the fillers and had a little bronk between fence 2 to 3 so i think she was enjoying herself!
loads of people commented on her but i kept it very quiet she was for sale as i didnt think it was fair for people to be trying her and pulling her about at her first show ( like some poor 12 hand pony who must of had about 10 kids try it, galloping and jumping round the showground!)
