Is draghunting that much faster than bloodhounds?

Okay so I've hunted twice previously with the southern shires bloodhounds, but as I intend to go loads this year to get my mare really going and thinking on her feet (plus I loved it and am getting frustrated with SJ and dressage).

So I was looking at th annual subs for under 18s, and found the Berks and bucks draghounds is a LOT cheaper than SS, and their boxing day meet is on the 27th which suits me better due to family and bf' family all wanting me lol.
So I'm going with them tomorrow, but just mentioned it to someone on the yard and their general opinion was draghunting is way too fast and people who do it treat their horses like sh*t?

So I'm a bit worried now!

Hi,

I'm going tomorrow with the Berks & Bucks! It will be fine - it is a pre-season meet, so will be fairly short & chilled. Don't forget hunting is as fast as you want it... I go at the back, which is slightly more sedate. I won't be going too fast tomorrow as my horse isn't fit enough.

I have been out with the Bloodhounds a few times this season and today for the first time with the Fox Hounds,

The Bloundhounds were great (Autuumn Hunting - so no jumping) we had a fast(ish) canter on a couple of lines then we had time to stand and get our breath back! great fun and very safe.

Foxhounds today was carnage!! people were falling off everywhere (one was me!!) and another person got carted off in an amulance!
A horse rolled in the mud with his rider on board then booted his rider in the leg, another person got bucked off, hounds were everywhere - it was great fun hehe!!
There was a lot of standing around to start, but loads of galloping and jumping after, we came back early as our horses were knackered (they lasted ok with the Bloodhounds)

Thanks

Ooh I'm gonna message you Orange!

We have a 10 hand shetland pony out with the Cheshire Farmers Drag. The people who want to go slow and not jump stay with Blackie, the people who want to go fast are at the front. We meet up at the checks and a sweeper huntsman and/or quad bike makes sure no-one gets left behind.

Sub is on £50 per year, and cap for the day is £25. It's great fun and great value. If you are around Cheshire/Derbyshire/Staffordshire come out with us for a day.
