My horse finds being ridden stressful. We have found out after xrays that she has spondylosis in her spine but the vet is not sure if it is still active or not. She has come back into work after nearly 2yrs off and seems to be really enjoying her long reining and I just thought she may find driving easier and more enjoyable.
yes freind has a mare that cannot be ridden due to mental issue & she just freaks id anything is above her back but behind her is fine (she was attacked by very large dog as a 4month old foal, dam was put down due to injurys caused defending her).
they have spent 10 years of TLC & hard work as well as thousands on trainers / behaviourists / specialists to no sucess but as she was long lined in her training with no issue they gently introuduced her to shafts & now she seems a much happier mare in general (think its cos she has a job now).
Thank you for your replies. Rara007 do any of the ponies you know have back problems that made them unrideable but they can be driven without any problems?
Sorry if I seem to be repeating myself, I'm new to forums and it is really important to me to find a solution that will make my mare happy.
