our local river burst its banks, and streets of houses were evacuated locally etc., lots of roads closed, chaos, pandemonium...

got to my fields yesterday afternoon and my entire lower pastures were under a raging river, we're not talking a bit, close to the river bank here, i mean A LOT, the fences along the riverbanks were mostly underwater, just a few tops sticking up

my old boy had all the other horses up in the top pasture up the hill so everyone was safe and he was standing guard watching the river from the side of the hill, im so glad ive got him he's so sensible

river is back down today, but ive lost some fencing

anyone else?

Soggy carpets in places but touch wood *touches wood* we are ok ...so far.

Glad your horses are ok

the big posh house down the road (built on a flood plain, lol, loonies) was stood in the middle of a lake last night, theyve only just finished building it this summer too

horses are on a hill (yes they do exist out here in the fens lol) but at our house had a nightmare, the pumping station failed so garden & all my little tots (3y & 1y old) toys were in raw sewerage, its still pouring out of the manhole & we are still waiting for them to fix it.
but on the upside they have given us sandbags & the garden is due to be put good.

yes, the roads were still closed today, yesterday fire-engines were pumping water off the road they were hanging over the bridge with the hoses

Theres floods? :O All round here its massively... dry!!! :S

Hope everyone/everything is ok and not too wet for those who are suffering from flooding

We had awful flodding last september, worst in 30 years. Have spent the past 10 months rebuilding/fencing etc. The whole lot went again on Friday night, OH has been out with his digger all weekend rediverting water. We are in a valley, house quite high up and when the river swells the entire bottom fills up. The road runs along the bottom, so may not get out for another few days. All horses, people safe though. It really is so sad watching the damage it makes, and as it goes down the mess it leaves behind.

what a mess i does leave behind!

my bottom fields are all silted up and my fences are gone in places, lost some trees on the river bank too

threres an enormous pile of tree trunks,
logs and garbage making a dam across part of the river which will need shifting

out surveying the damage this morning and met my neighbour across the river, he's been counting his cattle, thought he might have lost 2 or three calves, but luckily everyones accounted for
