Is he just getting old or is it something else?

OH's dog, 10yo staffi (large staffi) has been limping on his back left leg on and off for the past couple of months.

Some days he is fine and walks normally, some days he gets much much worse and limps around and some days he won't put any weight on it at all.

He has a small visible bump on the fleshy upper bit of the leg in question, it doesn't feel like it is attached to much.

Wondering whether he is just like this cos he is getting on a bit now or what?

No, Its not 'just' because he's getting old, something is wrong, possibly arthritis and he limps because he is in pain so tell the OH to take him to the vet!

Even if it is age related there may be something that can be done to ease the pain he is obviously feeling. Just because he is an older dog doesn't mean he can be left to hobble about. Give your OH a swift kick in the pants and tell him to take the poor little man to the vets.
