I have recently aquired a Shire x of some sort he's acctually massive must be atleast 16.3 and chunky but no feather - he's about 7yrs and he has just been hacked but then he got dumped in a field for 3yrs until now so I am hoping to hunt/show Him- he's nothing special breed/colour wise just very lovely so yeh would he be okay. I am 14 btw and around 8stone :L I don't want to be dragged around like a rag doll that's all I'm saying x

If he's fit enough ... impossible for us to say if you would be dragged around like a rag doll - depends entirely on his manners and obedience!

Perhaps try a fun ride before going hunting as that will give you a low pressure experience of what he's like around many unfamiliar horses cantering around, etc!

I would find someone experienced to take him for you the first couple of times, he is alot of horse if he starts misbehaving putting you and others at risk. Once he settles, enjoy!

I have a cracking shire x tb. Had a few quiet days out on her last season, (she's just turned 5) . I'm considerably older than you weigh more but still got ragged about a fair amount but with lots of schooling hopefully this won't be the case this coming season, I would send him with someone experienced a few times first but be inclined to treatb him like a baby due to his low mileage , have found the incredibly dim shire (I have my mares pure shire mum) has meant they mentally mature slightly older than most horses. Have to admit was so ragged about the last day I took her out she decided she wanted to hunt hounds !!! Quite embarrassing especiLly as vim the hunts mans groom !!! Luckily we are all a lovely bunch . Good luck if you have a hard time with him persaver it's well worth it
