this is out of intrest only.
A few years ago I was given a pony for a companion for my horse. Hes a sec a type not registered, due to previous bad handling, abuse etc he is not able to be ridden as he is very very nervous. every thing is a bit of a ordeal for him ie vet farrier etc he hard to catch and this makes everything you do with him a bit of a problem. All that said hes fit and healthy and is a good companion although he can bully some horses. He very nice looking and about 14 years old.
I will never part with him but just out of interest wonder if he would be worth anything. I think not, but my friend insists he would be worth something. This is a bit of a pontless post but would be interested in your opinions. I fee there are many ponies around who can be ridden that are not worth anything let alone a complicated chap like him. Thanks

Tbh I wouldn't pay for him. There are so many little ponies free to good homes that I think you wouldn't get anything for him. I deal with problem horses and work on their issues and these are big animals who can be ridden and most have less problems than your guy and they are given to me for free or £200 is the most I pay. By the way it's 99% human error and they return into good usefull working horses who than go out on loan so I can safe guard their furfure.
The fact that he can be bossy towards others don't make him ideal either for a companion
I think if you got rid off him he's the sort to get passed from piller to post I would just find a nice rescue center to take him if it ever came to it

I have a Sec A mare that sounds exactly the same! She is sweet with us but only after a year of persevering and the farrier is a total nightmare. We were given her for nothing and im sure she wouldn't be worth anything either - not that we have any intention of selling her ever.

Thanks for replys, my thoughts are that hes not worth any money and hopefully he will stay with me for the rest of his life. I would have to try a rescue centre if it ever came to not being able to keep him. I would never allow him to be passed around.

I was given him as hes not safe for a child to ride and is too small for most adults and even then he would not be safe on roads etc.
At the moment hes got a geat life.
